it's hard to think of Adele as anything other than the incredible singer, songwriter and performer she is today.

But the star has revealed she had another prospective career ahead of her, one that is completely different from the one that made her a superstar.
In an interview with i-D magazine, the 27-year-old singer revealed that the death of her grandfather spurred her on to pursue a job as a heart surgeon.
'I wanted to fix people's hearts,' she told the magazine.
But the singer said she 'gave up on it' when she discovered fun and the allure of boys. 'My heart wasn't in it anymore,' she said.
However, according to her mother, Adele does fix peoples hearts: with her music.
After hearing one of the tracks from Adele's first album, 19 - released in 2008, her mother knew her daughter had fulfilled her initial ambitions.
'I played her the unmixed version of Someone Like You,' she said.

'She was pretty teary. "You are a surgeon," she said, 'You're fixing people's hearts.'
Adele recently released her first single Hello from her upcoming third album, titled 25, set for release on November 20.
She told the magazine that the highly anticipated album is about missing things, such as hanging out with her friends as a teenager and drinking cider in a park.
'Those were the most real and best moments of my life and I wish I'd known that I wasn't going to be able to sit in the park and drink a bottle of cider again,' she said.
The singer said the record is also about 'trying to clear out the past'.
'Becoming a parent and moving past my mid-twenties, I simply don't have the capacity to worry about as many things that I used to really enjoy worrying about,' she said.
She said that after her last record, 21, she was very conscious not to make another heartbreak record 'cause I'm not heartbroken'.
'Also, how I felt when I wrote 21, it ain't worth feeling like that again.

'I was very sad and very lonely. Regardless of being a mum or a girlfriend, I didn't want to feel like that again,' she said.
Meanwhile, as well as having a career as a heart surgeon, Adele has also confessed to fancying dipping her toes into Hollywood.
In an interview with Kiss FM, the singer discussed how appearing in her new single Hello's dramatic video has made her want to give it a go.
The clip was directed by Canadian film-maker Xavier Dolan, and his words had a lasting effect on the British singer.
She confessed: 'He said he was quite good. I had to cry and everything.
'I feel like a bit of c*** after saying for all these years I'd never act, because I really enjoyed it.'
Adele added, knowingly: 'I'm sure I'll get some flak for this, but I actually would like to act after working with Xavier. I would be in a film for him, definitely.'
'I don't like it when those singers start acting, it makes them mediocre. But I don't quite know what I'd be cast as anyway.'
The video for Hello - the hotly-anticipated and long-awaited first single from Adele's forthcoming new album 25 - is certainly theatrical.
Shot in a moody monotone, the clip for the epic new ballad sees the singer dealing with the heartbreak of a lost lover after several years.
Hello has rocketed straight to the top spot in the charts, with 165,00 copies being sold in just three days and, according to the Official Charts Company, single has been downloaded over 156,000 times.
The ultimate comeback star recently confirmed that the follow-up album to her previous record - 21 - will be released on November 20.
